The New Bedford Housing Authority is inviting proposals from qualified Architectural or Engineering Firms to provide professional design and construction administration services for the Fire Alarm System Upgrades Project located at Hillside Court I Family Development, MA 7-7, AMP 40. The construction related work includes: the removal of the existing fire alarm system and all its components; installation of a fully functional, code compliant fire alarm system.
Hillside Court I Housing Development was built in the early 1970’s. The development encompasses One (1) two-story building with a total of 46 units. The units are all one (1) bedroom units. The Development sits roughly on a 2 acre parcel. The building is constructed of wood frame with asphalt roof. The siding is comprised of Brick veneer & fiber cement lap siding. PVC trim has been installed in replacement of wood on all eaves, rakes, doors and windows.
The Architectural/ Engineering services requested under this solicitation include all investigative, design, final design/ schematics, cost estimation, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and project close-out services. The successful Architect/ Engineer will also be required to employ a Clerk of the Works as a reimbursable cost with 10% mark-up. Final drawings must be submitted to the NBHA on AutoCAD. The scope includes this project being bid electronically on Biddocsonline.com. The Architect/ Engineer must provide two hard copies of the complete contract documents to the NBHA when posted on Biddocsonline.com for review by the public.
Estimated cost of construction is $225,000.00. This Project encompasses replacing the entire fire alarm system with new. Construction of Hillside Court I began before 1978, please ensure that the specifications include compliance with EPA rules for Renovation, Repair and Painting Program.
Architects/ Engineers submitting proposals must be registered in Massachusetts and be experienced in residential modernization with prior HUD and public housing authority experience preferred.
