The New Bedford Housing Authority is inviting proposals from qualified Landscape Architectural or Civil Engineering Firms to provide professional design and construction administration services for the Redesign of our Westlawn Family Development courtyard. The construction related work includes: walkway replacement, sewer, water, and drainage improvements as needed, Removal of basketball court and unnecessary asphalt to increase green space; elimination of clothes drying yards to be replaced with clothes line attached to buildings.
The Westlawn site is covered by a Soil Management Plan that limits site activities and regulates the distrubance of soils, as well as a Worker Health and Safety Plan which establishes procedures and protocols to protect site workers and public. Both of these documents will be provided to the successful landscape architect and or civil engineering firm for inclusion in the contract document. The redesign shall ensure that distrurbed soil remains on site and is covered with clean fill and loam,
The Architectural/ Engineering services requested under this solicitation include all investigative, design, final design/ schematics, cost estimation, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and project close-out services. The successful Architect will also be required to employ a Clerk of the Works as a reimbursable cost with 10% mark-up. Final drawings must be submitted to the NBHA on AutoCAD. The scope includes this project being bid electronically on Biddocsonline.com. The Architect must provide two hard copies of the complete contract documents to the NBHA when posted on Biddocsonline.com for review by the public.
Estimated cost of construction is $100,000.00. Construction at Westlawn began before 1978, please ensure that the specifications include compliance with EPA rules for Renovation, Repair and Painting Program.
Landscape Architects / Civil Engineers submitting proposals must be registered in Massachusetts and be experienced in residential modernization with prior HUD and public housing authority experience preferred.
