The New Bedford Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids for the Brickenwood Porch Repairs and Trim Replacement, for the New Bedford Housing Authority in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Arnold Jacobson Associates, Inc., Architects, 16 Mason Avenue Suite 5, North Attleboro, MA 02760
In general, the Project consists of but not limited to:
o Exterior Repairs to four (4) occupied family housing units including but not limited to Porch Repairs (Framing, Decking, Posts and Railings), replacement of selected wood trim with new PVC and all work shown on the drawings and specifications.
o Base Bid: 190 Harvard St., 116 Hathaway St., 6 Walker St.
o Alternate: 196 Harvard St.
The work is estimated to cost approximately $70,000
Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H & to minimum wage rates as required by The Davis Bacon Acts, as amended by the U.S. Department of Labor inclusive.
THIS PROJECT IS BEING ELECTRONICALLY BID AND HARD COPY BIDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Please review the instructions in the bid documents on how to register as an electronic bidder. General Bids will be received until Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 2:00 pm and publicly opened on-line, forthwith.

General Bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit which shall not be less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount, and made payable to the New Bedford Housing Authority.
Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for pickup on the beginning of the business day on February 26, 2020 at www.BidDocsOnline.com (may be viewed electronically and hardcopy requested) or at Nashoba Blue, Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167).
There is a refundable plan deposit of $50.00 per set (maximum of 2 sets) payable to BidDocsOnline Inc. Deposits must be electronically paid or must be a certified or cashier’s check. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for General Bidders and for one set for Sub-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the awarding authority.
Bidders requesting Contract documents be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), payable to BidDocsOnline, to cover mailing costs.
A pre-bid conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 on site at the Brickenwood Management Office, 38 Walker St. New Bedford, Massachusetts. Immediately following the conference, the job site will be available for inspection. It is strongly recommended that prospective bidders attend.

all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty

A. SPECIFICATION CHANGES 1. ADVERTISEMENT. General Bids will be received until FRIDAY, March 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm and publicly opened on-line forthwith. 2. TENANT COORDINATOR. On page 1, section 1.02 B, delete $18.00 per hour. Insert $20.00 per hour. 3. TENANT COORDINATOR, On page 1, delete section 1.02 C. Replace with: C. The Tenant Coordinator shall be required to be on site whenever the Contractor or any subcontractor has personnel on site performing work under the contract. The Tenant Coordinator shall be employed for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day for each day a crew works, with the following exceptions: 1. If, during start-up and punch list/close-out work does not warrant a full eight-hour day, the NBHA and the Tenant Coordinator shall be notified in advance the number of hours expected to be employed each day. 2. During the project duration, if work on any given day is curtailed due to the Contractors decisions/actions, the tenant coordinator shall be paid for hours worked, but no less than a minimum of four (4) hours per day for each day this condition exists. B. DRAWING CHANGES 1. A-0, Under General Notes, delete “work must be conducted between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm”. Insert “work must be conducted between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm”. 2. ALL SHEETS, Delete “remove existing screen door and existing wood 908 casing; install new pvc 908 casing w/ concealed fasteners. Re-install door and hardware to match exisitng” from scope of work. 3. ALL SHEETS, Delete “painting of existing steel tube railing by others” from all sheets. Insert “painting of existing steel tube railing by contractor”. C. QUESTIONS 1. How many buildings are included in the scope of work? There are three(3) buildings in the base bid, and one(1) building as an alternate. Disregard all language regarding five(5) buildings. BIDDERS SHALL ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ADDENDUM ON THEIR BID FORMS. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY BE CAUSE FOR REJECTION.
